2015 To 2023 Were Years Of Locust – Governor Mutfwang

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has said the years of 2015 to 2023 were years of locust in Nigeria’s economy caused by mismanagement of the then federal government.

Caleb Mutfwang said it was regrettable that Nigeria moved from the largest economy in Africa to the poverty headquarters of the world in the same administration between 2015 to 2023.

At the state level, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governor said his administration inherited ₦400 billion from the last administration without any tangible evidence of what the money was spent on.

Mutfwang said this on Tuesday, during a statewide broadcast, which he uploaded on his X handle.

He promised that his administration would focus on building a strong economy for the citizens of the state.

He explained that the economic hardship and hunger experienced in the country were caused by wrong economic policies of previous administration. He stated that there would be no quick fix to the current economic challenges faced by the citizens.

“We cannot deceive ourselves into thinking there are quick fixes, we cannot deny that the period between 2015 to 2023 was the season of the locust.

“Years in which we were stripped of our dignity as a nation, going from the biggest economy in Africa to the poverty capital of the world.

“Even at the state level, we inherited a distressing state of affairs. About ₦400 billion in debt, without tangible evidence of progress in any sector. We are fully aware that you did not elect us to complain or pass the bucks,” Plateau State governor said.

Mutfwang added that he would ensure food, education and health are made available to all citizens of the state.

“We will ensure no one goes to bed without having something to eat. No child is condemned to illiteracy because their parents can not afford to pay their school fees., no one dies prematurely because they cannot afford to pay their medical bills,” he added.
