Rosemary Chukwuma of Team Nigeria put up an impressive performance in the women’s 100m event at the 2024 Paris Olympics to secure her place in the semifinals.

In the first Preliminary Round of the race, Rosemary finished in 3rd place with a time of 11.26s, behind Dina Asher-Smith of the United States who came in 2nd with a time of 11.01s. The race was won by Ewa Swoboda of Poland with a Season’s Best time of 10.99s.

Rosemary’s performance places her among the three African women aiming to advance to the final, along with Marie Josee-Ta Lou from Ivory Coast (10.87s) and Gina Bass from Gambia (11.01s).

The women’s 100m semi-finals are scheduled to take place at 6:30 pm on Saturday, August 3.

Meanwhile, the coach of women’s basketball team of Nigeria, D’Tigress, Rena Wakama acknowledged that her players were not able to deliver their best performance in the game against France.

Despite their previous victory over Australia, D’Tigress suffered a 75-54 defeat to the host team at the basketball event of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The team was outplayed by the French side, with notable disparity in shooting percentage.

Following the game, coach Wakama expressed disappointment in the team’s performance, emphasizing the need to regain their winning form.

“We didn’t play our game, we are not ourselves, what helped us secure the win on Monday, we didn’t bring today,” Wakama said according to FIBA.com.

“It’s tough when you let another team shoot 63 percent inside the paint.

“It’s hard to beat anybody, we need to get back to our ways.”

D’Tigress are gearing up to face Canada in their final group game on Sunday, August 4.
