Nigerian sprinter, Favour Ofili has accepted the outcome of not securing a medal in the women’s 200m event at the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympics.

Recall that Favour Ofili finished the 200m final in sixth place with a time of 22.24s. USA’s Gabrielle Thomas won the gold with a time of 21.83s, while Julien Alfred and Brittany Brown secured the silver and bronze medals with times of 22.08s and 22.20s, respectively.

After her failed attempt to win a medal for Team Nigeria in the 200m event, the 21-year-old sprinter, who couldn’t compete for Nigeria in the 100m due to administrative reasons, took to her X page to write: “Next 4×100. On God”, which means that she will represent Nigeria in the women’s 4x100m at the 2024 Olympics.

On her experience so far at the tournament, Favour Ofili expressed her gratitude to her coach, acknowledging the mental fortitude required to compete at such a high level after receiving the unexpected news of not being able to compete in the 100m.

“Tried to be mentally ready regardless of the shocking news I took a few days back. I gave it my all from lane 9. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it,” she wrote on X.

“Thank you, Coach Shaver. Having you around made everything a lot easier for me.”

Note that Favour Ofili will represent Nigeria alongside Rosemary Chukwuma, Tima Godbless, and Justina Tiana Eyakpobeyan in the 4×100 Metres Relay on Thursday, August 8.
