The Caretaker Committee chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Benue state, Dr Benjamin Omale, has bragged that with success recorded in their move to end the crisis rocking the party in the State and the positive responses of unity gotten from members, 2027 is a done deal for APC.

Dr Omale, who made his views known while playing host to the Benue State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Makurdi, said the committee’s mission to end the crisis rocking the party is over 80 per cent achieved through dialogue and consultations with critical stakeholders, in line with the mandate given to us by the national Secretariat.

He says, “The seven-man caretaker Committee under his watch has been meeting with aggrieved parties during the 2023 party primaries, and the just concluded local government elections.” He added that with these positive responses recorded by APC and Governor Hyacinth Alia’s leadership style, APC will capture the whole of Benue come 2027.

The chairman commended President  Bola Tinubu for his love for the State, as shown in Benue Sons’ appointments, such as those of Sen. George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Prof Terlumun Utsev, as Minister in his cabinet, among other appointments, also applauded Governor Alia for keeping to his campaign promises.

He appealed to all aggrieved party members to sheath their swords for the betterment and progress of the party and to those still in court to consider the party’s interests for an amicable resolution. He said all stakeholders will be accommodated in the scheme of things in Benue State and beyond, as promised by the Governor for peaceful coexistence.

While commending Benue media for balanced reportage of political activities in the state, Omale called for more investigations and balanced information before going to the press.

In his remarks, the State Secretary of the Committee, Prof Bem Angwe, assured that members who contributed to the success of the party during the general elections last year will be fully compensated; he, however, warned that any member of the party in the habit of fanning members of hatred and sowing seeds of discord will be made to account for his or her actions.

For her part, the State APC Woman leader, Ngohide Agaigbe, said aggrieved party members are cooperating with the caretaker Committee to restore peace and unity.

Responding on behalf of the NUJ chairman, the Caretaker Committee Chairman, Vincent Nyinongu, commended the committee for embarking on a peace mission that brought relative peace to the party.

While commending the Alia-led administration for its proactiveness in settling the prolonged NUJ crisis, Nyinongu said the council was also engulfed in one. Governor Alia waded in and resolved the crisis, even as he appealed to the committee to always be there to confirm reports to journalists when the need arises for fair and balanced reportage.
