Contrary to media reports that suggested chaos at the recent coalition meeting held at the Abuja Continental Hotel, a delegate from Jigawa State, Auwalu Garba, has clarified that the event proceeded in an orderly manner.
The meeting, organised by the National Political Consultative Group (North), aimed to unify political forces across party lines in preparation for the 2027 elections.
It brought together key political figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, and former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi.
Reports of disruptions reportedly linked to the Jigawa delegation were described by Garba as a misunderstanding over procedural matters.
He explained that the disagreement centred on the protocol for who would speak on behalf of Jigawa State. Two individuals had been officially authorised to represent the state, but a third person sought to contribute without following the established process, leading to brief objections.
Garba said the issue was quickly resolved after intervention from stakeholders, with Mustapha Lamido, son of former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, and another accredited delegate confirmed as the official spokespeople for Jigawa.
He stressed that the delegation was well-organised and focused on the coalition’s objectives, stating, “Make no mistake, the coalition is real.”
