2027: Why I Chose Not To Reply Kalu’s Remarks – Otti

1 week ago 34

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has clarified his decision not to engage with Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ben Kalu, who suggested that Otti might be replaced by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.

Speaking to reporters at the Government House in Umuahia over the weekend, Otti explained that he opted to ignore Kalu’s comments due to his belief that ultimate power rests with God, who grants it to whomever He chooses.

Recently, a video surfaced where Kalu, as the sixth highest-ranking political official in Nigeria, claimed it would be unusual for Abia State to be governed by a party other than APC in 2027.

In response, Governor Otti stated, “I am actually not competent to sit here to tell what will happen in 2027. I do not subscribe to playing God.”

He reiterated that authority is a divine prerogative, and it would be imprudent to attempt to forecast the future.

Meanwhile, the faction of the Labour Party (LP), under the leadership of Julius Abure as its National Chairman, has ruled out an automatic ticket for Peter Obi as the party’s candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

The faction also ruled out an automatic second-term ticket for the current Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, on the party’s platform.
