Popular Nigerian Afro-pop singers Innocent Ujah Idibia (2Baba), Mr. P (Peter Okoye), Techno, Khalid, Commissioner DJ Wysei, Wizard Chan, and Starblinks gave scintillating performances to thrill their numerous fans, including some visiting black Americans, at the Opu-Nembe All-stars Night organised by philanthropist Dr. Kojo Sam at Opu- Nembe, Nembe local government area.
Speaking after the performance on Tuesday, 2Baba commended the people for their peaceful disposition during the show.
He also commended the state government for the developmental progress recorded in the state.
The African musical icon urged Niger Delta leaders to emulate the sponsor of the Opu- Nembe All-stars Night, Dr Kojo Sam, in bringing joy to their people.
In an interview with newsmen, Kojo Sam recalled the turmoil that engulfed the community and the efforts to restore peace.
He commended President Bola Tinubu and IGP Kayode Ebetokun for their peace efforts and Bayelsa Governor Senator Douye Diri for setting up the peace community headed by Rear Admiral Victor Ombu (rtd).
According to him, the committee is progressing well in its assignment, which he hopes will bring lasting peace to the community.
He implored all the community residents to rededicate themselves to peace and harmony.
„For the past three years, a lot has happened. The community was in a serious crisis, leading to property loss and lives. We got back our community by God‘s grace and the IGP‘s help. Now, the community is happy, and everybody is happy. We have put a lot of resources into ensuring a good Yuletide celebration. We have brought back the memories of celebration in Opu-Nembe by displaying our cultural heritage,“ he said.
The visiting black Americans, John Rice, Yolanda Rice, Aris Ganimous, and Shade Chenoweth, expressed happiness over the peaceful disposition and hospitality of the Opu-Nembe people and commended Kojo Sam for putting the programmes and events together.
