President of the Christian Women Fellowship International, Rev. Julie Akhimien, has said that N20 million worth of equipment would be given to women at the 50th convention of the organisation, which kicked off in Benin on Augst 5 through August 11.
She also stated that 50 scholarships would be awarded to orphans and indigent students, who are children of members at the event.
She noted that over 2.5 million women have benefited from its skills acquisition, interest-free loans and empowerment programme in the last 50 years.
Akhimien added that the CWFI was founded by Archbishop Margaret Idahosa to help galvanise the spiritual life of women and ensure they occupy a place of pride in the church and society.
Noting that the convention coincided with the 81st birthday celebration of its founder, Archbishop Idahosa, Akhimien said, “I can say that the CWFI has impacted over 2.5 million women with skills acquisition, interest-free loans and empowerment in several sectors since it was founded 50 years ago by Archbishop Margaret Idahosa
“The focus of CWFI is on Christ, the body is trans-denominational. It is upholding the dignity of womanhood in all facets. CWFI is for every woman who loves and wants to serve God.
“I can tell you that N20 million has been spent to procure items to empower women at this year’s convention.”
CWFI vice president, Rev. Nnenna Godson, said over 30,000 women from all parts of the world are expected to attend the convention, adding, “The event will be outstanding and impactful.”
She said that at the event, which would, be hosted by the Archbishop of Church of God Mission International, Archbishop Margaret Idahosa, women would learn and draw strength from the teachings they would receive to change their family lives back home.
