In this article, we shall take a closer look at five of Olamide’s evergreen music collaborations over the years.

1. Jagaban (2012)

Artistes: Ycee, Olamide

Jagaban is a track that brought together four of the hottest rappers in Nigeria at the time. The song features the rappers trading verses on their success, wealth, and influence. Additionally, the term Jagaban is a Yoruba word that translates to “leader of warriors.” It is a title given to a man who is considered brave and strong.

Also, the song is occasionally played whenever the Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, arrives at an event. This is because Jagaban happens to be one of the President’s many nicknames.

2. Shoki (2014)

Artistes: Olamide, Lil Kesh, and Viktoh

Shoki is a dance track that became a viral sensation in Nigeria and beyond. The song has an infectious beat and a signature dance move that made it a fan favourite at parties and clubs. Shoki is the song that put Lil Kesh in the music spotlight.

As a matter of fact, Lil Kesh was nominated in the highly coveted Next Rated artiste category for the Shoki remix in 2016. Unfortunately, he lost the award to Reekado Banks. Ultimately, this led to the famous moment where Olamide called out the show organisers for not giving the Next Rated award to Lil Kesh who seemed to have deserved it more at the time.

3. Bahd Badoo Baddest (2015)

Artistes: Falz, Olamide, Davido

Bahd Badoo Baddest is a song that showcases why Olamide is known as one of the best lyricists in the Nigerian music industry. Moreover, the song saw the first-ever collaboration between the three biggest artistes, Falz, Olamide, and Davido who go by the nicknames Bad, Badoo, and Baddest respectively.

Furthermore, a term that was used multiple times in the song, “Omode meta n sere,” is coined from Yorùbá tales by moonlight stories. These are stories told by elders to children who gather at night to listen to stories that have good lessons.

4. Reggae Blues (2015)

Artistes: Harrysong, Olamide, Kcee, Orezi, and Iyanya

Reggae Blues is one of the most popular music collaborations in the Nigerian music scene. Essentially, the song is a mid-tempo reggae track that features the four artistes singing about love and relationships.

5. Fada Fada (2016)

Artistes: Phyno, Olamide

Fada Fada is a particularly notable collaboration between Olamide and Phyno.

The song is a track that features the two rappers trading verses about their struggles and successes. Consequently, the song was a commercial success, and it further established Olamide as one of the leading rappers in Nigeria.

Also, the song was released as a part of Phyno’s The PlayMaker album in 2016.

These are just a few of Olamide’s many iconic music collaborations. He can collaborate with other talented artists without being outperformed, ensuring he will forever be considered one of the most respected figures in Nigerian music.

Olamide’s Latest EP

On June 26, 2024, Olamide released his latest EP, Ikigai. The EP features seven tracks with guest appearances from Asake, Fireboy DML, Pheelz, Young Jonn, and Lil Kesh.
