The aged man, who spoke to Journalists in tears at Azikiwe road in Umuahia on Thursday, alleged that the management of the Mother Mary Mission Hospital in Umuahia has not allowed him to see the condition of his daughter’s corpse because of his inability to complete the medical bills given to him by the hospital.
According to him, his late 23-year-old daughter, Chidinma was admitted for medical treatment in February which included a prescribed 20-day Chemotherapy session.
He explained that his daughter, who was a hair stylist, died on March 10, 2024, the 19th day of the prescribed Chemotherapy session she was undergoing.
He added that out of about 1.5 million naira medical bills given to him to pay, his family was only able to pay about 800,000 while sourcing for other means to pay the remaining part to enable him take his daughter’s corpse for burial.
Mr Sampson who said that the management of the hospital has promised to slash about N250,00 from the remaining medical bill, appealed to the Abia State government and concerned individuals to intervene on his behalf and prevail on the hospital to allow him see his daughter’s body in mortuary while sourcing for the money to pay for the remaining bill.
He cried out that he may soon die of frustration and heartbreak.
“I want to see my daughter’s corpse. Let them allow me access to her corpse because I may soon die of heartbreak and frustration.
” Let them allow me to at least see her while I am looking for means to gather the remaining money to pay the bills”, he cried.
Responding to the allegations, the management of the hospital which spoke through Temple Onuoha, said the bereaved father is owing them some money.
“Yes, he owes us some money. He is owing us”, Mr Temple Onuoha simply told DAILY POST on Thursday.
