9 Die From Cholera Outbreak In Yobe

The Yobe State Government said nine persons have died following a cholera outbreak in five local government areas of the state.

Commissioner of Health and Human Services in the state, Muhammad Gana, stated this in a statement made available to LEADERSHIP in Damaturu, the Yobe state capital.

Gama described that the outbreak was confirmed in Machina, Nangere, Gujba, Nguru and Fune areas of the state.

According to him, a total of 132 cholera cases were recorded as of September 25 and so far, 112 patients have been treated and discharged.

He added that the state so far has recorded an upsurge in cases of acute diarrhea as a result of the current heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding in some part of the state.

“I want to use this opportunity to inform you that, so far we have confirmed cases in 5 Local across the state.

He said a total of 132 cholera cases were recorded as at September 25, 2024; unfortunately, we lost 9 patients. “I want call on the people to be patient and giving any support to the state government.”

However, in light of this and due to our continuous concern for the health of our people and the need to scale up response with the support of our International, National and Local government partners.
