Aba: Weeks after killing 5 soldiers, gunmen murder 2 police officers on patrol

It was a sad evening in Aba the commercial city of Abia State as unknown gun men shot and allegedly killed two police men on evening duty.

Eye witness who saw the entire event said that some men walked up to the police men who were in their patrol van while others were out of the vehicle and shot them.

The sound of the gun shots made people to who were seen returning home to scamper for safety as there was pandemonium around the whole area.

The incident which happened around the popular Opopo Junction around Ogbor Hill area of Abia which is under Obingwa Council Area as at the time of the report was deserted for the fear of the unknown.

The area which has a market that serves the Ogboo Hill area of the city saw many traders and buyers running for safety while vehicular movements were paralysed.

It could be recalled that with the killing of the police men by the supposed unknown gun men has brought to the killing of about seven military and police men in Aba alone in the last one month.

The first was the killing of a soldier along Asa road very close to the Aba main motor park and was quickly followed by the alleged killing of four soldiers on the 30th of May at Obikabia Junction and now this.

Reports available to Saturday Times in Aba say that there are people who are not comfortable with the progressive rate of the present administration and are determined to rubbish it.

They believed that with the killing of military and police men by the supposed unknown gun men will make the present government to lose focus.

Police authorities could not respond to confirm the sad incident as at the time the report was filed.
