Abia gov assigns new commissioners, redeploys others

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti

The Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, on Thursday, rejigged his cabinet and assigned portfolios to the newly appointed commissioners who were sworn-in on Wednesday.

The governor had, during the swearing in, disclosed his plans to effect a minor reshuffle of his cabinet and create a few more ministries.

As a result therefore, some new ministries were created and others carved out from the existing ones.

The new composition of the zstate Executive Council saw the Commissioner of Finance, Mike Akpara, reassigned to Industry and SMEs Ministry, while Dr. Chimezie Ukaegbu was moved from Trade and Commerce to Transport.

Others are Mr. Ikechukwu Uwanna who retained his position as the Attorney General ans Commissioner For Justice Uzo Nwachukwu – Commissioner Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Uwaoma Ukandu – Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Kingsley Anosike – Commissioner for Budget and Planning, and Mr. Okey Kanu – Commissioner for Information.

The new cabinet also includes Mr. Goodluck Ubochi – Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Prof. Uche Uche – Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Prof. Enoch Uche – Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mrs. Maureen Aghukwa – Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Blessing Felix – Commissioner for Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection, Mr. Philemon A. Ogbonna – Commissioner for Environment, Prof. Joel F. Ogbonna – Commissioner for Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Mr. Kingsley Nwokocha – Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Mr. Nwaobilor Ananaba – Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Mr. Mathew Ekwuruibe – Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Creative Economy and Mr. David Kalu – Commissioner for Science, Technology & Innovation.

The rest are Mr. Chaka Chukwumerije – Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Engr. Don Otumchere Oti – Commissioner for Works, Engr. Ikechukwu Monday – Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities, and Comrade Sunny A. Onwuma – Commissioner for Labour and Productivity.
