The Abuja Municipal Centennial Lions Club has donated a state-of-the-art 90-bed hostel to the FCT School for the Blind in Jabi, Abuja.

The project, the Club said was initiated in 2020 after a needs assessment revealed the school’s insufficient accommodation facilities, limiting its capacity to admit more students.

According to Club President Lion Geraldine Bocco, the project was made mandatory for all succeeding presidents until its completion. “To the glory of God, we have completed a fully functional and furnished 90-bed capacity hostel with bedsheets and pillows,” she announced.

The hostel’s commissioning was marked with a blessing and opening remark by Rev. Fr. Michael Banjo, Secretary General of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN), in the presence of distinguished guests, including the Chairman of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) Mr Idris Olorunnimbe, and the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Commission (SUBEC). District Governor Lion Sir Maurice Ibok, PhD, District Governor of District 404 A2, officially declared the event open.
