Adamawa Maps Out Irrigation Sites For Agricultural Diversification

The Adamawa State government has embarked on mapping out irrigation sites for the diversification of agricultural potentials of the state.

The management of Agribusiness Support Programme ADAS-P, visited the permanent secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to seek support and cooperation on the forthcoming tour of sites.

Speaking on the purpose of the visit, the head of Component Two ADAS Programme, Mr James Birdling, explained that the visit is to seek the ministry’s support and cooperation to reach out to farmers at the grassroots level to form clusters.

On his part, the head of Component One ADAS-P, Dr Tasi’u Idi, said the aims and objectives of the tour are to map out suitable irrigation sites, develop a standard digital farmers database, promote cooperative societies, and upgrade focal persons offices, which are already ongoing in seven local government areas.

Idi, who thanked the permanent secretary for their support and cooperation at all times, said the government will earn revenue as soon as the programme kick-starts.

The permanent secretary of the Adamawa State Ministry of Local Government, Comrade Musa Abbas Kiri, who thanked the ADAS Programme for its outstanding performance in the state, expressed readiness to support ADAS in achieving its objectives for the betterment of the state.
