Super Eagles duo, Wilfred Ndidi and Alex Iwobi are confident that the Nigeria national team will do well against Benin Republic and Rwanda when the AFCON 2025 campaign commences in September.

Note that the Super Eagles of Nigeria will face the Benin Republic at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, on Saturday, September 7. Three days later, the Nigerian team will travel to Kigali to take on Rwanda.

In a short video posted on the Super Eagles X account ahead of the two games, Alex Iwobi said he and his teammates are ready to get the necessary points to qualify for the AFCON 2025.

“There’s still a lot to fight for; we have much to prove. We know the quality we have in this team, and we need to show it consistently for Nigeria, just like we do for our club sides,” Iwobi said.

“The fans expect a lot from us, and we expect a lot from ourselves. We’re ready to get the points we need to qualify.”

Recall that the Super Eagles of Nigeria met with the Benin Republic in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, and the team coached by Gernot Rohr, a former coach of Nigeria, defeated the Eagles.

Interestingly, they are expected to meet again in the AFCON 2025 qualifiers which is an opportunity for the Nigerian side to revenge.

“We know we haven’t done as well as we wanted in the World Cup qualifiers but we’re ready to make things right in Uyo,” Ndidi told Super Eagles media team.

“They [Benin] had their win in Abidjan but we’ll see what happens in Uyo. Don’t worry; we’re prepared.”
