Afrobeats Artistes Now On Same Level With Drake – Davido

Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has asserted that Afrobeats singers are now on the same level as international music giants like Drake.

Naija News reports that Davido made this known while speaking at a panel discussion with the United States Advisory Council on Africa Diaspora Engagement and Leaders in Nigeria’s Creative Industries.

Davido emphasised that Afrobeats artistes are now selling out shows and generating enormous revenue, comparable to their pop and hip-hop counterparts.

He said: “Afrobeats artists are now selling the same tickets as Drake. One song as an Afrobeats artiste can change your generation.”

According to the ‘Unavailable’ crooner, the earnings from an Afrobeats single can translate to generational wealth, highlighting the significant impact of the genre’s global surge in popularity.

Davido encouraged young artistes to focus on collaborating with their peers rather than chasing international features.

He said, “When you collaborate with your friends, they put their all.”

‘I Don’t Want To Hear Anything From You’

Meanwhile, veteran fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde, better known as KWAM 1 or K1 De Ultimate, has ordered Nigerian singer, Dammy Krane, to end his ongoing fight with Davido.

Naija News recalls that Dammy Krane had last year taken to social media to call out Davido over alleged debt.

Also, Dammy Krane in a social media post last week accused Davido of having a hand in the death of his late friend, Tagbo, who died on his birthday in 2017.

However, Kwam1, during a live performance in the USA, stepped into the ongoing feud and called for peace between the duo.
