The last has not been heard of the case of the mysterious death of a patient at a popular private hospital in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The state government, in a statement from the office of the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, during the week, disclosed that it had commenced investigations to “unravel the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident of the death of a patient at a prominent private hospital in Ibadan.”

A source in the ministry told The Sunday Times that a team of state officials would be there at the hospital today (Monday) in continuation of its mandate to unravel the mystery.

Dr. Ajetunmobi had said last week that: “It has come to the attention of the Ministry of Health, Oyo State, of a video clip in circulation over an unfortunate incidence of a loss of life that occurred to one of the patients at a prominent private hospital in Ibadan.

“On behalf of Oyo State government, the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, wishes to commiserate with the family of the deceased.”

She promised that the Ministry of Health would keep the public updated on “the unfortunate incident.”

Speaking with our correspondent on Saturday on telephone, the commissioner vowed that the ministry would get to the root of this matter.

Recall that the Seyi Makinde-led government had been clamping down on quackery in the health sector since coming on board.

Dr. Ajetunmobi said the matter was already in the public domain, as a popular radio broadcaster, Oriyomi Hamzat, had released a viral video of the alleged earring hospital.

She, however, declined to comment on what the ministry had found out so far.
