The 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, on Thursday was restrained from renovating Nassarawa Mini Palace, by a Kano State High Court.
The applicants in the suit are Kano State Government, Attorney General of Kano and Kano Emirate Council, through their counsel Rilwanu Umar SAN, filed a motion exparte dated Sept.12, 2024.
The applicants asked the court to restrain Ado Bayero from renovating the mini palace.
In a ruling on interlocutory injunction, the presiding Judge and Chief Judge of Kano State, Justice Dije Abdu Aboki held that the applicant’s application is found meritorious and granted.
He ruled, “It is pertinent to note that the respondent filed no counter affidavit nor written address challenging the applicant”
Aboki redirected the case to High Court 15, for further mention.
Earlier, Counsel to the applicants, Rabiu Ibrahim-Yaura, told the court that the respondent had been deposed by law under Kano State Emirate Council Repeal Law 2024.
He said, “My lord the respondent was served on Sept.14, and did not file any counter affidavit nor written address and was not represented before the court.”
The applicant’s in their prayers asked the court to declare Gidan Nassarawa Mini Palace as property of Kano State Government and Emirate Council not property of the respondent.
