Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly on the verge of signing a new contract with Saudi Pro League club, Al-Nassr, which would be worth over £167.9 million.

This contract extension would solidify Cristiano Ronaldo’s position as the highest-paid footballer in the world.

The 39-year-old Portuguese footballer made headlines when he joined Al-Nassr in January 2023 following his departure from Manchester United.

His initial contract included an impressive salary of around £164 million per season for his activities on the pitch, with an additional £49 million coming from off-field ventures.

Ronaldo has actively engaged in promoting Saudi Arabia through various initiatives, appearing in videos for the country’s National Day and visiting popular tourist spots. He has also been a high-profile spectator at numerous boxing matches in Riyadh, further enhancing his connection to the region.

His presence in the Saudi Pro League has significantly influenced the league’s ambition to attract top talent, leading to the acquisition of stars like Neymar Jr., Karim Benzema, and N’Golo Kante.

According to Saudi outlet ‘Al Khabar’, Ronaldo is set to extend his contract, which is currently due to expire at the end of the season. This new agreement would see him earn approximately £3.19 million (€3.8 million) per week and £419,800 (€500,000) daily.

Throughout his time in Riyadh, Ronaldo has been remarkably successful on the field, scoring 75 goals in 84 appearances. However, his ongoing motivation to stay may also stem from his desire to achieve more significant honors with the club. So far, he has only won the 2023 Arab Club Championship with Al-Nassr, falling short in two title races against competitors Al-Ittihad and Al-Hilal.

Currently, Al-Nassr are positioned in third place in the league, trailing both Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad, who are tied for the top spot with 37 points each.
