Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi is encouraging his team to learn from the recent 4-1 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers and not to dwell on it for too long.
Alex Iwobi had put Marco Silva’s side in the lead with a fantastic curling shot in the 20th minute. However, Wolves recovered strongly, securing their victory with goals from Matheus Cunha (two), Joao Gomes, and Goncalo Guedes.
Reflecting on the match, the 28-year-old noted that the team struggled to maintain their dominance after conceding.
“The way goals can shift momentum is significant, and it gave them the confidence to push forward,” he said on the club’s official website.
“Even after they scored, we need to maintain our composure and stay calm. We didn’t control the game as we should have, so we give credit to them, but we will focus on our improvements moving forward.”
As Fulham prepare to face fellow London side Tottenham Hotspur in their next Premier League match on Sunday, Alex Iwobi emphasizes the importance of using this experience as a learning opportunity.
Meanwhile, Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has expressed respect for Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres, calling him a “top player in form.”
With both teams set to clash in the Champions League on Tuesday, Raya is determined to keep Gyokeres at bay. The Swedish forward has had a remarkable season, scoring 24 goals in 17 matches.
“We’re aware of his strengths, particularly his ability to make runs behind defences and to excel in one-on-one situations,” said Raya. “Our focus will be on keeping him quiet and minimizing his chances. It’s crucial that we strengthen our defensive performance, and I’m hopeful we can achieve that and secure a clean sheet.”
