The 2024-2025 UEFA Champions League “League Phase” will officially kick off across Europe on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.
Unlike in previous years, this season’s edition of the UEFA Champions League will be played from Tuesday to Thursday every match week and comprises 36 clubs from 16 leagues.
Also note that the traditional group stage of the Champions League has been replaced by the league phase, which means that teams will be made to play against some drawn teams, and the points garnered from the games will determine their position on the league table.
Teams that finish in the top eight will qualify automatically for the round of 16, teams ranked 9th to 24th will feature in a play-off to fight for a place in the round of 16, while teams that finish 25th to 36th will be eliminated.
