Belgian midfielder, Amadou Onana has completed his move from Premier League side, Everton to another EPL side, Aston Villa.

Aston Villa who are preparing to compete in the UEFA Champions League in the forthcoming season paid Everton £50 million to complete the move.

Recall that the 22-year-old Belgium international joined Everton from French Ligue 1 side, Lille for a transfer fee worth £33 million in 2022. Before he left the club on Monday, July 22, the Belgian scored four goals in 72 appearances in all competitions.

Amadou Onana who has signed a long-term contract with Aston Villa is seen as a direct replacement for Brazilian midfielder, Douglas Luiz who left coach Unai Emery’s side for Juventus for £42.35 million last month.

A statement from the Premier League side reads: “Aston Villa is delighted to announce the signing of Amadou Onana from Everton.

“The 22-year-old took his first steps in professional football with Hamburger SV in Germany before spending a year at LOSC Lille in Ligue 1.

“Onana would then join Everton in the summer of 2022, going on to make over 70 appearances for the Toffees, scoring three times last term. On the international stage, he has been capped 17 times by his country.”

Amadou Onana is Aston Villa’s 7th major signing this summer after the arrival of Ian Maatsen from Chelsea, Samuel Iling-Junior and Enzo Barrenechea from Juventus, Lewis Dobbin from Everton, Ross Barkley from Luton, and Jaden Philogene from Hull City.

After completing his move to Aston Villa, Onana said: “I’ll be playing in the Champions League again and that’s very exciting.

“We also have a manager that’s one of the best in the business and I think he can take my game to the next level.”
