English Premier League side, Chelsea, has officially confirmed the signing of defender Aaron Anselmino, who will be loaned to Boca Juniors for the 2024/25 season.

In a statement released on Thursday, the club revealed that 19-year-old Aaron has committed to a seven-year deal at Stamford Bridge.

However, he will first focus on his growth in Argentina, where the club is eager to oversee and assist in his development.

“Aaron spent time in the youth ranks of Juventud Unida and Sportivo Realico before joining Boca at the age of 12.

“He signed his first professional contract with the club on 10 June 2023 and was handed his first-team debut against Lanus on the same day.

“The centre-back has gone on to make nine further appearances for Boca and scored his first senior goal for the club in April, a winner in the Copa Sudamericana group stage against Trinidense. Welcome to Chelsea, and good luck or loan, Aaron!,” Chelsea said.

Enzo Maresca Identifies Chelsea’s Biggest Problem After Disappointing Pre-season In USA

Meanwhile, the manager of Chelsea, Enzo Maresca, believes the club’s biggest problem is in their defence after conceding 12 goals in five pre-season games in the United States.

Enzo Maresca and his boys had a disappointing run in the USA, as they couldn’t make a positive statement ahead of the 2024-2025 season.

They recorded three defeats, one draw, and just a win throughout their time in America.

Speaking after the team’s 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid, Maresca emphasized that the club’s high defensive line has been a significant challenge.

He acknowledged that the team is actively working on dropping the defensive line by four or five meters to address this vulnerability, which has persisted since last season.

Recall that last season under coach Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea displayed remarkable attacking prowess, scoring 77 goals.

However, their defensive frailties led to conceding 63 goals, culminating in a sixth-place finish.

In his overview of Chelsea’s performance in the last three weeks under his leadership, Enzo Maresca said he would work on giving the team a defensive advantage.
