APC chieftain, DSK bags doctorate degree from Taraba varsity

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State, Chief David Sabo Kente (DSK) has been conferred with a doctorate degree (Honoris Causa) by the Kwararafa University, Wukari in Taraba State.

DSK, who participated the state’s party governorship primary election during the 2023 polls was conferred with the doctorate degree (Honoris Causa) alongside the former Group Managing Director (GMD) Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC), Dr. Andrew Yakubu and the Attah of Igala HRH Matthew Alaji Opaluwa Oguche Akpa II.

The awardees received their meritorious awards during the Kwararafa University Wukari’s 2nd and combined convocation ceremony.

DSK was awarded an honorary doctor of public service, Dr. Andrew Doctor of Science Degree while the Royal father, Attah of Igala was awarded a Doctor of Letters Degree.

At the event, held at the institution’s premises, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Shishi Zhema said the doctorate degrees conferred on the recipients were owing to their untiring efforts towards the development of the University.

While commending the awardees of honoris causa for their achievements in various aspects of life, the VC reminded them of the responsibilities those honours came with.

Answering questions from Journalists shortly, Chief (Dr) David Sabo Kente (DSK) said he was overwhelmed receiving award from his local university explaining that he has rejected awards from several institutions. “But since this one is coming from my locality, I have to accept it”,

Highlighting some of his achievements to the University, DSK said he has a scholarship scheme in the school, he has also located a project of 60 classrooms with a power generating plant, ten units of junior staff quarters (ten flats).

He explained that the gesture came when he was with the Northeast Development Commission (NEDC) and in charge of Education Endowment Fund of the Commission.

“I have a borehole that was given to me by a friend and I am allocating it to the University, the only garden they have in the University was built by my foundation (DSK foundation) and quite a number of other projects”, he said.

Chief David Sabo Kente (DSK) who used the occasion to call on his colleagues ‘the awardees’ to use their wealths of experience and substance to assist the University, also lauded the gesture of Dr. Andrew Yakubu for donating a sum of ten million Naira (N10m) to assist the University develop one of its programmes.
