Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo, has allocated over N26 million to support National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members assigned to the state.
Each of the 1,326 Corps members will receive N20,000 to assist with their welfare.
Governor Ododo made this announcement on Tuesday, July 16, during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Batch B Stream One Orientation course at the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Asaya, Kogi State.
Make a positive impact, Ododo tells corps members
Represented by his deputy, Elder Joel Salifu Oyibo, he stated that this donation aims to encourage the Corps members to make a positive impact in their assigned roles, The Nigerian Tribune reported.

He emphasized that dedicated Corps members would be recognized and rewarded at the end of their service year.
The governor urged the Corps members to be diligent, selfless, and hardworking to achieve significant contributions during their service, as contained in the state's website.
Employers of Labour urged to accept corps members
Additionally, Governor Ododo called on employers to welcome the Corps members into their organizations.
He reassured them of the government's commitment to their safety and welfare throughout and beyond their service period in Kogi State.
The Commissioner, who also serves as the Chairman of the NYSC Governing Board in the state, urged Corps members to remain vigilant and prioritize their security, highlighting the need to avoid travelling during odd hours in their assigned areas.
Mr. Femi Osungbobun, the state coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, encouraged the Corps members to utilize the skills and knowledge gained from the camp to positively influence their assignments.
Court affirms Ododo as Kogi governor
In another development, Legit.ng reported that on Thursday, July 11, the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, affirmed Usman Ododo as the duly elected governor of Kogi state.
In the judgement delivered on Thursday, July 11, a three-member panel of the appellate court dismissed the petition filed by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Murtala Ajaka, its governorship candidate.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced Ododo, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the Kogi governorship election held on November 11, 2023.
