The 11 ward chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akure South Council Area have assured Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and his deputy, Olayide Adelami, of unprecedented votes in the forthcoming governorship election.
The office of the deputy government disclosed this in a statement on Thursday by Adelami’s spokesperson, John Paul Akinduro.
Akinduro said the ward chairmen, led by Ogunleye Sesan, made the declaration during a courtesy visit to the deputy governor on Wednesday.
Sesan, speaking on behalf of the chairmen, said the group came to congratulate the deputy governor over his nomination as Governor Aiyedatiwa’s running mate.
“We are here to felicitate with you on your nomination and to reassure you that we, the APC chairmen of all the 11 wards in Akure south, are solidly behind you. We believe in your capacity and trust that you will be a deputy governor for all.”
The Ward 10 chairman, Omotoso Ayodeji, noted that the wards promised to deliver an unprecedented majority vote for the governor in Akure, saying he has performed creditably in all areas.
Ayodeji stated, “There is no doubt that the APC will win the forthcoming governorship election but we want Akure’s votes to be more than we have ever recorded in any of the past elections.”
Deputy Governor Adelami thanked them for the gesture, adding that the governor has done a lot in Akure and will continue to do more.
“I have always had the idea that Akure, being the state capital, should wear a good look at all times. I’m happy to be a part of a government that is turning Akure to a modern city that will be the envy of state capitals in Nigeria,” Adelami said.
“Just recently the governor approved N980m for the renovation of the Ondo state sports complex in Akure and the building of a new judicial village, among .any other laudable ongoing projects.”
