The All Progressives Grand Alliance has commended the Supreme Court for its decision affirming Sly Ezeokenwa as the party’s National Chairman, a move hailed as a victory for the rule of law and justice.
In a press statement issued on Wednesday, APGA’s National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, lauded the judiciary for resolving the party’s leadership tussle, describing the decision as a significant milestone.
“This landmark decision is a testament to the judiciary’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring justice is served,” Opara said.
The Supreme Court’s ruling clarified that its earlier judgment in 2021 did not pronounce Edozie Njoku as APGA’s National Chairman, dispelling any lingering doubts over the party’s leadership.
The court further declared the suit filed by Njoku’s proxies as an abuse of court processes, and reaffirmed that Chief Victor Oye was the rightful National Chairman prior to the emergence of Sly Ezeokenwa.
“The Supreme Court castigated Edozie Njoku for attempting to distort its judgment, awarding N20m against him in each of the three appeals, totaling N60m,” Opara noted.
The party extended its gratitude to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, for leading a decision that bolstered faith in the judiciary.
APGA also praised its National Leader, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, for his steadfast support and guidance, as well as the efforts of the Board of Trustees and National Working Committee in steering the party through challenging times.
APGA emphasised that the decision not only restored clarity to its leadership but also serves as a reminder that “justice can only be delayed but cannot be denied.”
