The impasse between Arik Air and its creditor has been resolved, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority announced on Thursday.

NCAA’s announcement came barely eight days after an aircraft belonging to Arik Air was grounded by the Federal Government.

The civil aviation regulator also added that the airline would now continue its operations.

Nigeria Airspace Management Agency grounded the airline following a court judgement in favour of the airline’s creditor.

The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection of NCAA, Michael Achimugu, announced the resolution of the impasse in a statement on his X handle on Thursday.

“The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, and the Director-General of NCAA, Capt Chris Najomo, have successfully resolved the impasse between Arik Air and Atlas Petroleum.

“By this resolution, Arik Air will begin operations today. The priority of the minister and the NCAA remains to ensure safe and secure air travel for all passengers. Arik Air passengers are currently checking in for scheduled flights.”

Also in a reactionary statement, the airline confirmed its resumption through a statement signed by its  Chief Executive Officer, Roy Ilegbodu (in Receivership) on Thursday.

The statement noted that the brief pause of its operation did not derail the airline’s commitment to the safety of the flying passengers.

The statement reads, “Arik Air is excited to announce that today, August 8, 2024, resumed our flight operations. During our brief pause, we have been dedicated to ensuring a smooth and seamless return to service, preparing to welcome you back on board with the comfort and reliability you expect from us.

“Our entire team has been working tirelessly to enhance your travel experience. From our friendly ground staff to our attentive flight crews, everyone at Arik Air is ready and eager to serve you once again.

“Whether you are travelling for business or leisure, you can rely on Arik Air to get you to your destination smoothly and comfortably. We extend our gratitude to all the stakeholders who played a crucial role in resolving the recent impasse. Your support and cooperation have been instrumental in our return to the skies.”
