At NEMCEA 2024, stakeholders chart way forward for content production

The third Nigerian Electronic Media Content Exhibition and Awards (NEMCEA) held August 7 and 8, 2024 @ Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.

NEMCEA is a media content event convened yearly by the Electronic Media Content Owners Association of Nigeria (EMCOAN) with its maiden edition in 2022. It is a three in one event with focus on content market, conferences and awards.

At the opening ceremony, President of EMCOAN, Mr. Adeniji Omirin, stated the importance of improving on the last two editions.

The former Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, was one of the special guests of honour.

In his remarks, he raised the need for government to take the creative industry seriously and invest in it; hence, the creative economy can increase the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) rapidly as a nation.

The Creative Director with Nollywood Film Factory, Obi Emelonye, was one of the lead speakers, who treated the central theme, ‘Content Production and Emerging Technology: A Panacea For Growth in The Creative Economy.’

He enjoined content producers to start embracing the new technological trends to enhance their productivity. He gave instances of how he made use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for storyboarding in his last film production and relish the worthwhile experience to the audience.

Other speakers and panelists that shared their thought during the two-day event, include Group Executive Director, Omnicom Media Group, Mr. Yinka Adebayo; President, Advertising Agency of Nigeria (ADVAN), Mr. Osemede Uwubanmwen; Co-Founder, NIGPT & CEO, Finnova Corp, Julius Olaoluwa Oyekanmi; Managing Director, R-Wells Media & Advertising, Jibe Ologeh; MD/CEO , Eagles House Global Resources, Alayande Stephen T; Managing Director, Golden Heritage Ltd, Kingsley Omoefe, and others.

The event was rounded off with an awards’ night, which saw Greg ‘Teddy Bear’ Ojefua, going home with the Best Actor diadem. He won with his role in Road Trip. Winner of the Best Actress prize is Mary Gold. She got the prize with Wrath of the gods. Other winners are Best Director, Victor Eyike (Road Trip), Winner – Creative Nigeria Summit (CNS) Awards for Best Producer, Kayode Peters (i5ive Series) and Winner – Best Drama Series (International), Sister Wives (Zee World).

NEMCEA 2024 was supported by Zee World, Creative Nigeria Summit (CNS), Radisson Blu Hotel, National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), IBOM Air, Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), Indomie, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) amongst many others.
