Italian Serie A side, Atalanta BC appear to be coming to terms with the impending departure of their star player, Ademola Lookman, as interest from several clubs continues to grow.

Head coach Gian Piero Gasperini has publicly acknowledged the interest from French powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain, indicating that there is a significant possibility that Ademola Lookman will leave the club sooner rather than later.

In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Gasperini revealed that PSG had made inquiries regarding Lookman during the summer transfer window.

While PSG managed to agree on personal terms with the player, the clubs could not finalize a deal at that time. This has led to speculation that Atalanta are actively seeking a suitable replacement for the Nigerian forward, who has become a key figure in their squad.

Ademola Lookman, who has drawn attention from other high-profile clubs such as Chelsea and West Ham United in the English Premier League, is being viewed as a valuable asset in the transfer market.

Reports from Tutto Atalanta indicate that the Bergamo-based club is targeting a financial gain of approximately €60 million from Lookman’s sale. The funds generated from this potential transfer are expected to be reinvested into acquiring younger talent to bolster the squad.

Several players have emerged as potential replacements for Lookman, including Argentine striker Mario Retegui, as well as Nico Gonzalez, Federico Chiesa, Denis Dragus, and Angel Gomes, who is currently playing for Lille.

Since joining Atalanta from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2022, Lookman has established himself as one of the team’s most crucial players, contributing significantly to their successes, including a remarkable run to claim the UEFA Europa League title last season.

His impressive performances also earned him recognition on a global scale, finishing 14th in the final standings for the prestigious Ballon d’Or.
