Atalanta’s winger, Ademola Lookman, has received well-deserved recognition by being named to the Serie A Team of the Week following an outstanding performance in the recent match against league leaders Napoli.
In a commanding display, Lookman proved pivotal in Atalanta’s impressive 3-0 victory at the prestigious Estadio Diego Armando Maradona on Sunday.
The 27-year-old showcased his exceptional skills by scoring two of the three goals, further solidifying his growing reputation in the league. This season, Lookman has been a key player for Atalanta, tallying an impressive total of six goals and providing four assists across just eight league appearances.
In addition to Lookman, three of his Atalanta teammates—Charles De Ketelaere, Ederson, and Isak Hien—also earned spots in the Team of the Week.
De Ketelaere, who has been showing remarkable form, contributed significantly to the match by recording an assist during the thrilling encounter against Napoli, making him an integral part of the team’s success.
Meanwhile, former France striker Karim Benzema has advised Kylian Mbappe regarding his position at Real Madrid. Benzema cautioned Mbappe that Carlo Ancelotti, the head coach of Real Madrid, is unlikely to alter the positioning of Vinicius Junior, who currently occupies the left wing—a spot where he has been performing exceptionally well.
Mbappe, who made headlines by becoming Paris Saint-Germain’s all-time leading goalscorer while playing predominantly on the left wing, has found himself adapting to a more central role since his transfer to the Bernabeu last summer.
Recognizing the pressures that come with playing for such a prestigious club, Benzema told El Chiringuito, “Mbappe is not a ‘9,'”.
He added, “There is a lot of pressure at Real Madrid; this is not PSG.
“He shouldn’t give up. I don’t think Ancelotti is going to move Vinicius; he’s the best in the world right now in that position.”
He emphasized that Mbappe must embrace the challenge of playing as a central forward, saying, “Mbappe has to get it into his head that he has to be a ‘9’ and forget about the left. He’s been very good on the left, and now he has to be good somewhere else.”
