Former member of the House of Representatives, Chief Sam Onuigbo, says the August Meeting is a unique experience and an avenue for Igbo women, including those in the diaspora, to make their communities better.
Onuigbo made this statement while speaking with newsmen at the 39th August Meeting of Olokoro Clan Development Union Women Federated (OCDUWF) in Abia.
According to him, the August meeting is not a mere social gathering for communities that understand its significance, but an opportunity for women to bring their ideas together to develop their communities.
Onuigbo, a member (South-East) of the Governing Board of the North-East Development Commission, urged the women to remain thorough and genuine in building their communities.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Onuigbo, who represented Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South from 2015 to 2023 in the House, was given an award of Ezi Enyi (Good Friend) of Uvoma.
The award recognised his contributions and commitments to education, infrastructure, and empowerment in Olokoro community and Abia in general.

Earlier, the President-General of OCDUWF, Mrs Oluchi Otu, said the conference was an avenue to recognise some individuals for their positive contributions to the community and society, as well as fundraising.
She added that the meeting provided an opportunity for women both at home and abroad to come together and address some contemporary issues affecting the development of the clan.
