Bandits abducted several people in three different attacks on different communities in Zurmi, Tsafe, and Talata Mafara Local Government Areas of Zamfara on Tuesday.

Zagazola Makama, a security analyst, revealed the names of the attacked communities as Kaiwa Namba Village, Bawa Ganga Village, Bobo, and Tashar Rogo villages.

At about 5:30 am on Tuesday, bandits invaded Kaiwa Namba Village. Several residents were killed while others were abducted and transported to an undisclosed location.

The number of people who were abducted is yet to be determined as of the time of filing this report.

That same morning at about 9:30 am, armed bandits who rode on over 100 motorcycles stormed Bawa Ganga Village.

Makama noted that Officers of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) on Operation Restore Peace repelled the assault, but one of its operatives sustained gunshot wounds during the gun battle.

“Inspector Sunday Joel from MOPOL 10 Bauchi sustained bullet wounds and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Reinforcements were deployed, and normalcy has since been restored,” said Makama.

While travelling to Gusau for a court case related to banditry, a member of a Community Protection Guard (CPG), Murtala Hali, and the driver, Danjuma Abubakar, were killed by bandits between Bobo and Tashar Rogo villages along the Anka-Mayanchi road.

The bandits also abducted another CPG member who was identified as Bashir Kolabe.
