Bauchi police record 1,182 cases, arrest 2,322 suspects in 2024

Bauchi State Police Command says it has handled 1,182 cases and arrested 2,322 suspects during its operations in 2024.

This was revealed by the Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Mohammed, while briefing journalists on the performance of the command the previous year.

The CP credited the success to the policies of IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun aimed at reducing crime and improving public safety for economic growth.

CP Mohammed said the Command had revamped its crime prevention methods, with Community Policing as the core focus, adding that the Command’s proactive measures had prevented criminals from operating in the state.

This is as he acknowledged the work of the State Criminal Investigation Department, State Intelligence Department (SID), and other units in achieving the feat.

He gave the breakdown of the cases, stating that, ”Of these, 678 cases and 895 suspects were subsequently charged to court.

“Forty-eight cases involving eighty-two suspects culminated in successful convictions. 396 cases involving 816 suspects remain pending trial, while thirty cases are currently under investigation.

“In light of these developments, the following exhibits were recovered: Twenty-three AK-47 rifles, four G-3 rifles, three SMG rifles, twenty-two fabricated or cut-to-size firearms, five fabricated pistols, 746 live ammunition of various calibres, thirty-two magazines, 100) cartridges, sixty-eight cutlasses, twenty-six knives, ten motor vehicles, twenty-nine motorcycles, sixty-nine handsets, twenty-eight tricycles and a cash sum of N22,038,000.”

Mohammed urged the public to continue sharing helpful information to aid the police in maintaining safety and security.
