Manchester United are in the final stages of signing Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.
Manchester United have been aiming to strengthen their central defense and right-back positions, and it seems they are making significant strides in fulfilling these objectives with the potential arrival of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.
United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, has expressed that the club’s new leadership is eager to finalize these deals which have been dragging because of Bayern’s unwillingness to accept the club’s initial bids.
Both De Ligt and Mazraoui, who have since agreed on personal terms with the Premier League club, have played alongside United goalkeeper Andre Onana during their time at Ajax, making it potentially easy for them to settle down at Old Trafford.
Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has disclosed the details of the transfer deals for De Ligt and Mazraoui. According to Romano, both players have agreed to five-year contracts with Manchester United, with an option for an additional year.
De Ligt’s transfer involves a €45 million fixed fee with €5 million in potential add-ons, while the payment will be spread over three years.
Mazraoui’s transfer, on the other hand, will cost €20 million, including add-ons, with the payment terms being in United’s preference.
In a related development, United have also reached an agreement with West Ham for the transfer of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and the 26-year-old will undergo a medical on Sunday.
United previously made unsuccessful bids for Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite. With Everton sticking to their £70 million valuation of Branthwaite, the Red Devils shifted their focus towards De Ligt, who is seen as a more affordable option with valuable experience.
