BBNaija Uriel Oputa Opens Up On Challenges Of Caring For Ailing Mother

Former Housemate of Big Brother Naija Show, Uriel Oputa, has shared the challenges of caring for her ailing mother, who is battling dementia.

Naija News reports that the reality TV star in a post via her Instagram story said caring for her mother has been hard but it taught her forgiveness.

Uriel said the mother’s health has left her unproductive due to the constant attention given to her.

She noted that her mother’s vascular dementia would have been prevented if she had taken her high blood pressure medication.

She wrote, “These last few days have been incredibly hard. Yesterday, I fed my mother breakfast, lunch, and dinner, which meant I couldn’t get to anything else. It left me feeling unproductive, but it reminded me of one of the biggest things I’ve overcome: forgiveness.

“I had to forgive my mother. I forgave her for not taking her high blood pressure medication on time. Something that might have prevented her stroke and eventually, her vascular dementia. I forgave her for likely not being here when I have children and for not being able to do our traditional rites when a woman gives birth. And I forgave myself for the way I’d acted at times, knowing she wouldn’t be there. Over the years, I realized I was carrying a lot of anger, and I finally let it go.

“This experience is why I’m so passionate about speaking on health and prevention. I want to make sure others don’t go through what I’m going through now. Because it’s fucking hard. I just want the old times.”
