Build good team to fix Nigeria, Onokpasa advises President
A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, yesterday, urged the 36 state governors to show more commitment to President Bola Tinubu’s resolve to end economic hardship in the country.
He said that sincere commitment of the governors to the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President, irrespective of their political affiliations, would put the country on the path of economic prosperity.
Oyintiloye, who made the appeal, while speaking with journalists in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, said that having examined critically various interventions by the Federal Government channelled through states since the removal of fuel subsidy, it is clear some governors must do more to assist the President in meeting Nigerians’ expectations.
The former lawmaker said the governors must show more commitment to the welfare of the masses by working for the success of the interventions, rather than being suspected to be saboteurs.
The APC chieftain further said: “For us to move forward and minimise poverty, the governors must be ready to support the President.” Oyintiloye said though various unavoidable policies by the President to rejig the economy might be creating pain at the moment, but the overall benefits would be great blessings to the masses.
RELATEDLY, another chieftain of the APC, Jesutega Onokpasa, has advised Tinubu to build a competent ‘Nigerian team’ around himself to enable him to right the wrongs of previous administrations and achieve great economic plans for Nigeria.
Onokpasa also urged the President to dismantle the team of Lagosians around him and assemble a team of Nigerians that would assist him deliver on his agenda.
The APC chieftain, in a video message, said Lagosians in Tinubu’s team had been redundant and of no value to the administration. According to him, the earlier the President gets better people, the better for his aspiration of fixing the country.
He said: “Mr. President, most of us supported you because we know your antecedent, and what you have done in Lagos. You cannot come to form a core of a team that is basically a Lagosian team to fix Nigeria. It is mathematically incongruous. It is an incongruity. It is expected that you will mobilise a team of Lagosians to fix Lagos but you will have to mobilise a team of Nigerians to fix Nigeria.”
