Minister of Police Affairs Senator Ibrahim Gaidam has charged the newly commissioned 462 cadets to be dedicated, effective, and professional in discharging their duty to the nation and enhancing efficient police service delivery to the citizens.

He made the statement on the sidelines of the passing out parade ceremony of the 6th Regular Course 6 2018 Cadets (462), reviewed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, ably represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, at the Academy Parade Ground, Police College, Wudil, Kano State.

The ministry‘s spokesperson, Bolaji Kazeem, said in a statement that the minister noted that after completing five years of rigorous academy and professional training from the college, Nigerians expected them to add value to the police ecosystem and be fair and accountable in discharging their duties.

He urged them to reflect on the journey that has brought them to this point, adding that the training they received has prepared them for the challenges ahead. Gaidam stressed that their character and integrity will define their careers.
In his words, “It is indeed a privilege to serve Nigeria and work towards the noble goal of ensuring the safety and security of our citizens. Undoubtedly, there is still much work to be done. You should be fully aware of the challenges ahead and acknowledge the complexities associated with policing. However, you should be committed to bringing about lasting change”.

He also said, “Community engagement and trust building should be your focus. It would help if you were actively involved in the communities you serve, fostering a sense of cooperation and partnership. Enhancing coordination between Federal, State, and local law enforcement can create a unified front against crime and ensure a more effective response”.

Gaidam pointed out that the Ministry of Police Affairs is currently spearheading policy reforms and administrative initiatives aimed at bolstering the NPF‘s operational efficiency and improving welfare and morale.

The minister added, „The ongoing initiatives include engaging multiple stakeholders through town hall meetings and reinforcing the Police Community Relations Committee to bolster efforts in enhancing community safety.“
