The women wing of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria (Lajna Imaillah) has called on Nigerian Muslims to fortify their spiritual strength in the face of what it called “global economic adversity.”

The body made the call at the concluded three-day annual convention at Mahmud Ahmadiyya College Abule Eko, ljede in Lagos State.

The convention, which brought together over 5,000 Ahmadi Women from across the country, was titled “Tawakkul and Sabr: spiritual strength in the face of Economic Adversity”.

The president of the female body, Hajia Taofeeqa Aderoju Fagbolade called on participants to rise above the Socioeconomic struggles to harness their inner strength and support one another as a community.

While also explaining the theme of the event, regional host of the event, Hajia Shakira Akinpelu, described Tawakkul as the act of patience and perseverance, adding that fostering a deep trust in God and practicing patience would make individuals conveniently navigate financial challenges with faith, hope and determination.

“As we face difficult circumstances with uncertainty, fear, hunger and the anticipation of loss, it is our relationship with Allah that must remain constant.”

She maintained Islam teaches adherents “trial (fitna) we are passing through now will pass, but as we go through the test, we must seek ways to purify ourselves and to nourish our souls.”
