Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has set up a forensic panel to audit Lobi Stars Football Club’s finances.
This was contained in a statement by Emmanuel Ujah, the club’s media officer, on Wednesday in Makurdi.
Ujah quoted Alia as constituting the panel after he received Daniel Amokachi, the new technical adviser to the club, at the Government House Makurdi.
The governor said that the panel was imperative because of the persistent complaints of non-payment of salaries by players and officials, despite government financial obligations to the club.
He listed members of the forensic audit team to include experienced auditors, namely Mr. Sam Chir, Mr. Bishop Dzungwe, Mr. Akpusugh Terungwa, and Dr. Gberindyer Chia.
Alia lauded Amokachi’s international football career and urged him to turn around the fortunes of the club for the better.
He also presented him with a branded jersey of the club.
Amokachi, in his remarks, thanked the governor and the people of Benue for the warm reception accorded him since he arrived.
The former Super Eagles player emphasised that paying players salaries was a big motivation for the team to perform well in the football league.
Dr. Philip Nongu, Chairman of Lobi Stars FC, said in his brief remarks that he was at the Government House to present to the governor the new technical adviser of the club. (NAN).
