Interview with Ebubu

In an exclusive interview with Ebubu, he opens up about his journey, his time on the Big Brother Titans, and the wisdom he has possessed along the way.

Q: Can you tell us about your journey leading up to your participation in Big Brother Titans?

I don't have much to discuss in my journey leading up to Big Brother Titans. Like everyone else, I just started doing theater arts at the university. I've always been involved in anything creative, anything that showcases myself or involves the arts. It was just regular old me. I had this passion for being artistic and went through with it.

Q: Can you discuss any lessons or insights you gained from your experience on Big Brother Titans?

First, I learned to embrace new cultures, doctrines, mannerisms, ideologies, and philosophies. I also learned how to learn from other people. Sometimes, it's not just about what you know. A tree cannot make a forest.I'm very, very grateful for the opportunity. I picked one or two things from my other colleagues, and then, in one way or another, I've been able to turn them into words and marble for myself. So that's what I always use when trying to do anything creative or artistic.

Q: How has your experience with the Big Brother Titans impacted your life and career?

I am grateful for the show. It's giving me some exposure. Like, everybody now has some inclination toward what I can do, and that makes me very happy because, for a while, before you get that sort of exposure or mileage, you have to till the soil very well. I've been doing things in the background. I started theater arts, as I mentioned. I was able to branch into modeling, video vixens, and everything else. From there, it was easier when I now got on the show so people could say, 'Oh, this guy has been doing this. This guy has been on this video. This guy has been on this set. This guy has been on this stage,' and all that kind of stuff. So, it was good. It's a continuum, a continuation of what I've been doing before. Now it's a stepping stone for me to do the things I've been doing on a much larger scale.

Q: How do you balance the different aspects of your career as an actor, model, and reality TV star?

It's one industry—it's all the same thing. In general, in life, to earn anything, you have to sell something. You have to be willing to offer services for people to patronize. I always see myself as someone who sacrifices for the arts. It's not something complex or tedious to balance together. If it's my acting, that's when I have to go on a movie set—I do what I have to do; if it's a modeling set, a video shoot, or a set of a video shoot, I try as much as possible to make myself available and do the best I can.That's one thing. It's not like this is different from this. This is different from that. It's all the same but one umbrella with different variations. It's like a tree with various branches, so I can always navigate through it.I am very interested in anything artistic. Apart from modeling, acting, and everything else, I also do poetry, spoken words, and all that kind of stuff. Anything artistic, call me, and I'm good to go.

Q: What advice would you give aspiring actors, models, and reality TV contestants?

First, the person I'm speaking with has to learn and comprehend the concept of patience and time, or time and patience, as the case may be, because it's not something that happens at night. It's something you must have been building and building; you must have laid the foundation somewhere. And from there, you start to add blocks little by little, little by little, before you get to where you want to be. Also, be open-minded so that you can learn from other people because there's no way you can know everything, even if you studied it in school, even if you've gone to different workshops, even if you've worked, even if you've done shows at the best theaters in the country; you still have to remain humble. Don't downplay anybody or downcast anybody because you feel that you've gained more than them in any way. Always be open-minded and free to keep learning, and never see any production or performance 'as an actor has arrived.'Every performance, every task, and every set I have to beat is a privilege. I take advantage of that privilege, learning one or two things, learning new ideologies, trying new acting styles, and trying new things I can do. If it's modeling, try new techniques—the techniques I've researched; if it's reciting a little poetry, improve my vocals or my recitation compared to the one I did the previous time. So keep grinding one way or another till you get used to it. It's like football. You keep playing and playing and playing, but before you know it, you become Ronaldo.
