Loyola University in Chicago, United States of America, welcomed back one of its accomplished alumni— Bolanle Olukanni— as the commencement luncheon speaker for the fall 2024 graduation of the School of Communication.
The event which took place at the university’s Water Tower campus, drew graduates, faculty, and guests to celebrate the momentous occasion.
A statement sent to Saturday Beats stated that Olukanni, a media personality and filmmaker, and graduated from Loyola with a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies and Communication Studies.
In her speech to the graduating class, Olukanni shared insights from her professional journey and encouraged students to use their communication skills for meaningful social impact.
She reflected on her time at Loyola, crediting the university with shaping her career and values.
“As you plan and prepare for life beyond the university, I ask that you consider the need for your voice in the world, filled with knowledge, kindness, honesty, and thoughtfulness,” she said.
Walking the familiar grounds of the campus that once nurtured her aspirations, Olukanni described her return as emotional and fulfilling.
“It feels like a full-circle moment, and I couldn’t imagine a better way to close out this impactful year (2024),” she said.
