Bolivia's failed coup attempt... in 75 seconds

On a day of fast moving events in Bolivia, police have arrested the former head of the armed forces who led an apparent coup attempt.

It all started when troops and armoured vehicles led by General Juan José Zúñiga took up position on Murillo Square in the capital La Paz, where key government buildings are located.

Footage shows an armoured vehicle trying to smash down the entrance to the presidential palace.

But the military left the square three hours later, after President Luis Arce named new military commanders and vowed to resist.

Seconds before his arrest on Wednesday, General Juan José Zúñiga said he had been ordered to stage the uprising by the president.

The Bolivian defence minister said the government has now total control over the armed forces.
