BPP gets new DG

The Bureau of Public Procurement has announced the appointment of Barrister Olusegun Omotola as its acting director-general.

A statement issued by the Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations/Head, Media, BPP, Janet McDickson, disclosed the appointment of Omotola as the new acting DG of the agency.

According to McDickson, Omotola, who is the most senior director in the bureau, took over from the former DG, Mr Mamman Ahmadu, who was relieved of his appointment by President Bola Tinubu, on June 15, 2024.

Omotola, who was the director of legal services in the bureau, hails from ljumu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

He got his Bachelor of Law from the Obafemi Awolowo University, lle-Ife, Osun State, in 1991.

According to McDickson, he has attended so many courses and seminars in capacity building, including contract negotiations, drafting and management, computer hardware and operating systems, total quality management, infrastructure development, public-private partnerships for infrastructure and services seminar, effective leadership, etc.

She stated that he represented the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning on the Ajaokuta Project Presidential Implementation Team, Sub-Committee, set up to verify the outstanding Federal Government Liabilities generated by the Ajaokuta Steel Company and National Ores Mining Company, Itakpe, in Kogi State from July 2020 to August 2021

Omotola is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association and a member of the Governing Council of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, representing the Federal Ministry of Finance.
