Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has presented a 2025 Appropriation Bill of ₦549.16 billion to the Kano State House of Assembly.
Naija News understands that the budget, titled “Budget of Hope, Human Capital, and Economic Development,” prioritizes education, infrastructure, and human capital development.
Under the proposed budget, 57% is allocated to capital expenditure and 43% to recurrent expenses. Key allocations include:
- Education: ₦168.35 billion (31% of the budget)
- Governance institutions: ₦98.24 billion (17.57%)
- Health: ₦90.6 billion (16.50%)
- Infrastructure development: ₦70.68 billion (12.87%)
- Agriculture: ₦21.04 billion (3.83%)
Other significant allocations in the budget encompass water supply and rural development (₦27.24 billion, 4.96%); security, justice, and emergency services (₦23.46 billion, 4.00%); support for women, youth, and individuals with special needs (₦17.34 billion, 3.15%); environmental protection and sanitation (₦15.52 billion, 2.83%); and transportation development (₦12.81 billion, 2.33%).
Governor Yusuf emphasized that the budget is crafted to meet the shared aspirations of the residents of Kano State, to foster economic development and decrease reliance on federal funding. He also committed to creating a more effective public service, advancing good governance, and improving employee morale.
The Speaker of the House, Alhaji Falgore, praised the governor for the prompt budget presentation and assured that discussions would commence soon.
He called upon all ministries, departments, and agencies to prepare for budget defence sessions before the House.
