Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani has expressed optimism that the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline project will transform Nigeria’s energy sector and drive economic growth.
Speaking on Sunday at the project’s event in Kaduna, Governor Sani, who was represented by Deputy Governor, Hadiza Balarabe, praised the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) for its efforts in driving the project forward.
The governor said the AKK gas pipeline project is a game-changer for Nigeria’s energy landscape.
He went on to say that the project will create jobs, attract investments, and increase Nigeria’s energy security.
Uba Sani expressed joy over the assurance by NNPC boss, Mele Kyari that the project will be completed by Q1 2025, and expressed hope over the positive impact it will have on Kaduna state and the nation as a whole.
The NNPC GCEO, Malam Mele Kyari has also expressed confidence in meeting the project’s deadline, stating that the 614km pipeline will be complete, by the first Quarter of 2024.

The $2.8 billion AKK gas pipeline project aims to enhance Nigeria’s energy security, improve power generation, and stimulate economic growth.
He said the completion of the AKK gas pipeline will herald the much-needed economic and industrial revival in the state.
“If you know about the Kakuri Industrial Area and how most of our factories there have become moribund, you will understand why we in Kaduna State are all excited about the AKK Gas Pipeline.
“Without doubt, the pipeline will revamp our industries and bring about a huge impact on our people. We can’t wait for it to be completed,” the governor added.
Dignitaries at the event include the Minister of Finance/Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun; Minister of Information & National Orientation, Mr. Mohammed Idris and Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo.
