The lawmaker representing Aba North and Aba South in the House of Representatives, Hon. Alex Ikwechegh, has promised a full response to allegations circulating on social media that he assaulted a Bolt driver, Stephen Abuwatseye, who delivered a package to him.
Speaking to Vanguard on Monday night, Ikwechegh stated that he has received numerous calls from across Nigeria regarding a viral video where Abuwatseye claims the lawmaker threatened and assaulted him.
The federal lawmaker stated that he will issue a comprehensive response on Tuesday to address the incident.
The controversy arose after a video surfaced showing Ikwechegh allegedly slapping and verbally insulting the driver in his Maitama residence, Abuja.
In the footage, the lawmaker is heard chastising the driver, insisting it was disrespectful for him to be asked to come outside to collect a delivery of snails.
The video further shows Ikwechegh making comments about his social status, reportedly threatening to “make the driver disappear” without consequences.
