Breaking: Kidnappers Storm El-Rufai Estate, Engage In Gun Duel With Policemen

A man simply identified as Nathaniel has been reportedly shot by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.

The dire incident happened in El-Rufai Estate in the Bwari Local Government Area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja around 2 am, on Wednesday.

According to SaharaReporters, the assailants shot the victim after an attempt to kidnap him was foiled by operatives of the Nigerian police.

The kidnappers were said to have attempted to abduct many of the residents before the operatives of the FCT police command foiled their operation, in a fierce gun duel that lasted for about 30 minutes.

The FCT police command spokesperson Josephine Adeh, who confirmed the incident to the aforementioned publication, said many of the gunmen escaped with bullet wounds.

She urged members of the public to report anybody seen with bullet wound to Police.

We received a distress call and mobilized operatives, who swiftly repelled the miscreants in a gun duel. Many of them escaped with bullet wounds.

“We are on the trail of the kidnappers, so we urge the general public to report anybody seen with bullet wound to Police,” she said.

Kano Commissioner Narrowly Escapes As Daughter, Other Relatives Die In Fire Outbreak

Meanwhile, Kano State Commissioner of Higher Education, Yusuf Kofar-Mata, has lost three members of his family to a fire outbreak on Wednesday.

Naija News understands that the commissioner, who narrowly escaped the disaster, lost his daughter, Maimuna, his elder sister, Khadija, and a close relative, Juwairiyya to the fire.

According to The Guardian, the commissioner’s residence in the Kofar-Mata metropolis in Kano was gutted by fire early Wednesday while the family was asleep.

A family source told the aforementioned publication that several valuables were destroyed during the unfortunate incident.

The spokesperson of the state fire service, Abdullahi Saminu, said the level of damage and cause of the inferno could not be ascertained immediately.

Meanwhile, Kofar-Mata expressed grief over the loss of three of his immediate family members.

Unto Allah we came and to him we shall return. I mourn the loss of my daughter Maimuna (Islam), my senior sister Hajiya Khadija, and my brother’s wife, Juwairiyya, who were all perished in the fire accident this morning.

“Their funeral prayers will be conducted at 11 am at Kofar-Mata quarters, Kano City today,” he said.
