The city of Kano witnessed a tragic incident on Thursday as one person, identified as Ismael Ahmad Musa, was killed in the Hotoro area of Tarauni Local Government.

According to DailyTrust, the victim, a resident of Hotoro Danmarke, was confirmed dead by his brother, Mubarak.

While it remains unclear if Musa was among the protesters who had taken to the streets, his death has added to the growing tension in the city. Musa has since been buried according to Islamic rites.

In a related development, another individual is reportedly battling for his life at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) after sustaining serious injuries, suspected to be from a stray bullet.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) office in Kano has been set ablaze. A large number of youths, armed with dangerous weapons, took over major roads in Kano, leading to widespread unrest.

The newly constructed NCC office was scheduled for inauguration next week. In addition to the arson attack on the NCC office, the Hotoro area saw all shops closed, and both a filling station and a Rufaida shop were set on fire.

Residents have called for immediate action from the authorities to restore order and protect lives and property in the state.

Isa Musa, a resident of Charanchi in Gwale Local Government Area, described the current situation as a threat to humanity and urged the police to deploy additional personnel to address the deteriorating security situation.

“The situation requires prompt action to ensure the safety and security of residents, protect property, and maintain law and order in the metropolis,” Musa said.
